LANCE RAUTZHAN
Lance Rautzhan was born in Pottsville, Pa in 1974. He studied Social Theory and Philosophy at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Rautzhan moved to New York in 1997 where he studied acting and made works on paper until 1999 before relocating to Baltimore, MD. He painted in Baltimore until 2006 before returning to New York. Rautzhan’s work has been exhibited heavily including galleries in Baltimore (Gallery 211, Subbasement, SchiavoneEdward), New York (Sacred Gallery, Eastern District), Provincetown (DNA Gallery) and with Freight & Volume at Pulse Miami 2010. In 2008, his paintings were included in an exhibit in South Beach during Art Basel Miami week with the work of Dennis Hopper and Nat Finkelstein. His work is concerned with aesthetic philosophy and socially relevant narrative allusions. He lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
